That journey began at Barclays Capital, where he was responsible for originating, structuring and securitising large loans secured on real estate assets. On joining Europa Capital, his capabilities increased twofold. Firstly, obtaining, structuring and negotiating finance for the fund’s acquisition of assets across Europe. Secondly, providing mezzanine finance to third-party clients.

Next came a major move to CR Investment Management, where Richard took a Managing Director position and was a key player in helping to grow the business. While there, he set up and ran several international offices. He also worked with hedge funds and private equity capital to acquire non-performing loan portfolios on European assets.
